Embracing the CROP Top!

Lets Talk About Plus Size Girls Rocking Crop Tops...

I need to be honest when I first started seeing these crop tops appearing in my favorite shopping spots I HATED them. Mostly because when they first came out they were only marketed to the smaller ladies, and I was jealous at the fact that I couldn't rock them myself!  Thoughts of tiny bare midrifts with perfect tummies filled my head and I thought "Damn, another article of clothing that is NOT made for girls my size."

I am so late in embracing the look for myself  yet I started doing some research on #Plus size gals rockin crop tops and my eyes have now been opened.  So many beautiful ladies of all sizes making these crop tops their OWN.

So with this new found motivation to wear one myself I decided to step out of my box and give em a shot...

I started small and purchased an IKAT printed crop top similar to the one pictured above at a local Burlingtons for only 4.99.

I SHOWED A LITTLE TUMMY!!!

My Plus Size Draft Picks for Fall!

I am a Summer baby, born June 23rd to be exact!  I LOOOVE the Summer season, but Summer has gone away, and I normally feel sad about this season change, but for some reason I feel excited and look forward to the Fall and Winter Seasons.

I remember a me who used to dress "down" for the cool weather wearing mostly sweatpants and huge pullover hoodies.  Unfortunately back then keeping my body warm beat trying to be fashionable. Sad... I know right?!  Thankfully, I'm not that person anymore, and I have my eyes on a few items I think will be a Plus to have in any girls closet! So here are my top 5 picks as of now...

#1
These Faux Leather Pants Go up to Size 3X!

I got my inspiration for leather leggings this year when I was reading People Magazine one day.  I was like, "Aha...I can make this work!" I found the leggings pictured above at an online leggings superstore called OnlyLegging.com for 28.00.  You can dress them down with a knit shirt like Beyonce or Kim K did out on seperate occasions with their beaus! (pictured below)

 #2
Lace Jacket Polyvore

I purchased a lace jacket like this from a local Rainbows for 14.00. The thing I love the most about this top is it can go with anything! and I intend to put it on top of some of my sleeveless dresses I have had hanging in the closet from the past summer!  Another thing...it camouflages my "juicy" arms yet shows some skin too!

#3
Wine Colored Slim Pants

The trend of colorful jeggings/pants can be taken into Winter with rich deep colors like Ox Blood, Wine, and deep Purples I got my mine from JC Penny online a few months ago in a size 17 in the Juniors Plus dept.  I was amazed at how many tops I just pair with these pants and make an amazing outfit!

#4
Bomber Jackets

The thing I like the most about Bomber Jackets are that they stop at the waist giving an instant waist line, and it also shows off those sexy curves of your.  All you need is some sexy jeans and boots.  No more of what I call "Bear" coats for me!

#5
Me in my Pyramid Earrings!
Ok, anything out of the ordinary is always what I'm on the look out for so Geometric jewelry is definitely on my "LOVE" list, pictured about is me Rocking my very own purchased from a Burlington Coat Factory for 4.99!

This is a random pick 5 of things I love in fashion and look forward to wearing into this Fall!!
Remember to step out of your box sometimes and embrace some of the trends us Curvy women weren't always encouraged by past sterotypes to wear. Thanks for stopping by, and remember you are so very... Fierce!  :)))

I was a "Big Girl" Now!

It was when I became a "tween", particularity at the age of 12, I started to actually pay more attention to my figure.  I was an early bloomer and already in the Juniors department at 10 years old, but one day I looked in the mirror and I saw something different...curves.

I was not happy about these newly acquired body features at all, and I actually felt awkward that I now had hips and shapely thighs, not to mention, on top of that men where noticing.  A lot.  I no longer felt comfortable about entering a room or anywhere men were around in my "play" shorts, not out of fear but because I had associated wearing short, tight, or revealing clothes with girls who wanted attention, and I just wanted to be a kid.
My resolution to what I thought was a problem at the time was to disguise my curves, and at 12 years old that meant hide them.  I wore bulky, baggy, clothes that did nothing for me but make my body actually look bigger than what it really was soon after came the fat girl jokes.  Its actually funny when I think about it now because the guys who had the jokes in Jr High, were same guys who turned out my admires in High School.

But Oh...when I became 14 I completely began to embrace those curves and started to wear more fitted clothes because I had boys on the mind.  Being a teenager was at tough time for me because I was trying to find my own personal identity and trying to find who I really was.  Deep down I secretly battled depression and low self-esteem.  I felt fat and unwanted some days and on others I felt beautiful and desired.

Me at age 14 in 2001
THANK GOD those teenage days are over! Although I sometimes wish i could be 16 again (or at least have that body back!) I am glad that I can finally say today that I EMBRACE MY BODY AND LOVE MYSELF.
Me at 25..Thinking.
I hope and pray that women of all walks of life, regardless of what society and the media says about you, take pride in who you are and Embrace Your inner Fierce!

You're Not Fat...

I'm almost POSITIVE every woman, every size has probably heard the phrase "You're not fat" at least once in your life, told you you by a sweet friend or some guy trying to get the goods.  No matter what size you are, we women sometimes tend to bring the little Debbie Downer on ourselves after literally consuming a Little Debbie cake.

Personally I am one of the worst offenders when it comes to asking the question "Do I look fat in this?".  And to be honest the only people ever in my life to answer that question wrong would be my Mother! and oh, of course my GRANDMA! But in all reality they are the most honest people I know because they don't want a damn thing from me, other than to love me and to give me some blunt honesty. ---And to be honest with you sometimes It's amusing, and sometimes just it hurts my feelings.  But don't feel bad for me.  I'm a big girl. No pun intended!!! :-))

Plus Size Model Tara Lynn

Does model Tara Lynn look fat to you? Does she look skinny? No.  She looks FIERCE! And working those curves!

For those who do tell us what MAY or may NOT be the truth by stating "You're not fat." after you confess you want to lose some weight, or cry about not fitting that sexy dress--we will never know what their opinions truly are.  Because everyone does have their own opinion on what is sexy, unattractive, what is good, bad, and what if fat, you must find what types of clothes are best work on you and your body type.

Look for colors that complement your hair, eyes and/or complexion, if that color is black then rock it! Too often (especially since the color blocking trends) does the solid black look get the stinky eye but if that is what makes you feel sexy wear it!  Black goes with everything integrate colors in by adding jewelery or a clutch.  I like to add red to outfits for sex appeal--especially for date nite! Red is just so FIERCE!  Below is an outfit that will surly kill "Debbie Downer Days"

Clutch by Tom Ford from www.neimanmarcus.com

You can find pumps like these at DSW, Zappos, and Payless

From the Posh shoppe on ebay up to 3X!

Or opt out for a chic look with the same black dress pictured above paired with these!...

Purchase this blazer from Forever21 Plus+

RSVP Cailyn Ivory at Zappos.com

Whatever clothes that make you feel good about yourself is a plus, but always be open to try new looks that you may have been afraid to try before.  Mix up your closet and match pieces that you didn't intend to go together and make a new outfit!

Soon I will be posting some things I mixed and matched together from my very own closet!

Seriously, when we become confident in ourselves we then begin to let the "Do I look fat in this?" question finally die with some of our insecurities.  Our friends wont be pleading to pick up our self-esteems' any longer by telling us "You're not fat." but by acknowledging that you my dear, are FIERCE!

Feel free to leave a comment or suggestions and thanks for stopping in :-))

Fashion Introduction

Yes! I finally have time to blog again, and if there is anything I want to discuss, that topic is Plus Size Fashion.  I wish to inspire women with curves to embrace what I call the...
"Curvy Revolution"

This is a  picture of inspiration...Does this model inspire you to embrace your curves? you can purchase this outfit from Rue114! She is FIERCE!

More and more designers are stepping up to the plate to provide those fashions that we "plus" women used to dream about wearing.  If you haven't noticed in the past and even now the womens' plus clothes being marketed all have what sometimes I call--
"The Grandma Look"
, or " The 'Oh, I'm to fat to be trying to look sexy' Look",
and the "I Just Want to Blend in With the Crowd Look"
For the record, so this doesn't bite me in the butt, my grandma actually has an amazing collection of clothes that are FIERCE!...but you knew what I meant.

I have been visiting numerous online boutiques and stores that provide that "MORE" in fashion that we were searching for and I have listed a few sites to share with you below:

I purchased this blazer from our local Maurices in a XL (I normally wear 1X) it was a little snug but i had to have it and it actually looks better in person. If you want it, you can find in at maurices.com.
Its so easy to pair with anything to enhance any look!

This sexy blue dress came from
I am very much looking forward to purchasing this one, or a similar one soon!
